I Love my Popcorn – But what about Indian Thriller Novels?

What is so good about the humble popcorn?

There’s something about popcorn that makes everything better. A dull day lights up. A boring conversation suddenly becomes sparkling. Even silence becomes… comforting. Popcorn doesn’t have to try too hard. No sir… absolutely not. All that popcorn has to do, is pop into the moment and things begin to make sense.

Now, don’t get me wrong; this isn’t your standard caramel-coated or butter-dripping variety. This is my popcorn. Slightly salty, occasionally sweet, sometimes hot (tempered, I mean – obviously), and always the perfect companion for long rides, short jokes, and half-finished dreams. My suggestion? Try pairing it with the next Indian thriller novel you read. The combo is unbeatable.

Popcorn doesn’t make grand entrances. No fanfare. No loud crunch. Just… a quiet presence. The kind that doesn’t demand attention but gets it anyway. If you know, you know. And forget the palate, popcorn leaves a lingering fragrance in the air that remains with you for long, stirring up your insides at will – much like Indian thriller novels, which creep up on your senses and refuse to let go.

And while everyone may have their own flavour preferences, cheese, peri-peri, masala mix, mine’s just a little offbeat. A little classic, a little rebellious, never boring. Familiar and yet full of surprise. The kind of Popcorn that refuses to be boxed in a tub. Picture this – that you are in your favourite book store. And there, amongst all the Indian thriller novels, is the one that you really want to read. Doesn’t the book refuse to be racked, and find its way into your hands magically?

Popcorn is a note, a wink, a declaration, an appreciation hidden in plain sight. For anyone who thinks this is about snack food, bless you. It’s about good times.

Popcorn is the best part of the movie. Even when there’s no movie.
